We seek a detail-oriented and proactive Procurement Specialist to manage the sourcing, purchasing, and supply of raw materials, packaging components, and essential equipment for our veterinary pharmaceutical manufacturing plant. The ideal candidate will ensure cost-effective procurement while maintaining compliance with regulatory standards and ensuring the continuous availability of materials for production.

Key Responsibilities:
1. Procurement & Sourcing:
    • Identify, evaluate, and establish relationships with reliable suppliers for active pharmaceutical ingredients (APIs), excipients, packaging materials, and other essential supplies.
    • Negotiate contracts, pricing, and terms with suppliers to achieve cost savings without compromising quality.
    • Monitor market trends, raw material availability, and price fluctuations to optimize procurement strategies.
    • Ensure that procurement aligns with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and regulatory requirements.
2. Supplier & Vendor Management:
    • Develop and maintain strong relationships with vendors to ensure consistent supply and quality.
    • Conduct supplier audits and performance evaluations based on quality, reliability, and compliance.
    • Work with regulatory and quality assurance teams to ensure supplier compliance with industry standards.
3. Inventory & Supply Chain Coordination:
    • Collaborate with production and warehouse teams to ensure timely material availability and prevent stockouts.
    • Maintain accurate procurement records, purchase orders, and supplier agreements.
    • Monitor inventory levels and coordinate with internal teams to forecast demand and manage stock efficiently.
4. Compliance & Documentation:
    • Ensure procurement activities comply with industry regulations (e.g., GMP)
    • Maintain proper documentation for supplier qualifications, material specifications, and regulatory audits.
    • Stay up-to-date with global regulatory changes affecting veterinary pharmaceuticals and procurement policies.
5. Cost & Risk Management:
    • Identify cost-saving opportunities while maintaining supply chain quality and efficiency.
    • Assess and mitigate risks related to supplier reliability, geopolitical factors, and material shortages.
    • Develop alternative sourcing strategies for critical raw materials to minimize supply chain disruptions.

Key Requirements:
Education & Experience:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Procurement, Business Administration, or a related field is preferred.
  • Experience in pharmaceutical, veterinary, or healthcare manufacturing procurement is preferred.
  • Knowledge of Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), EU/FDA regulatory requirements, and ISO standards is highly desirable.
Skills & Competencies:
  • Strong negotiation and supplier relationship management skills.
  • Excellent understanding of procurement processes, supply chain principles, and cost-saving strategies.
  • Ability to analyse data, forecast demand, and make strategic purchasing decisions.
  • Proficiency in ERP systems (SAP, Oracle, etc.) and procurement software.
  • Strong communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
